PUBLIC HEARING
PROPOSED RESOLUTION FOR E911 PHASE II UPGRADE TO INCREASE WIRELESS CHARGE FROM $1.00 TO $1.50
Chairman Clark called the public hearing to order at 9:00 a.m. The following commissioners were present: William H. H. Clark, Chairman; Ken Marks, Commissioner, District One; Robert R. Winters, Commissioner, District Two; Jim Emberson, Commissioner, District Three; and Dewayne Hill, Commissioner, District Four.
County Attorney Chad Young stated the purpose of the Public Hearing is to invite public comment on a proposed Resolution to be considered by the Board of Commissioners to enact E911 Phase II, the essential Resolution before the Board today is to authorize the increase of the current charge of $1.00 per cell phone customer per month to $1.50 per month. Mr. Young stated the increase in charge is authorized by statute for the purpose of allowing the County to install technology that will allow 911 operators to pinpoint the location of a cell phone call. The 911 center is in the process of installing the technology now and the increase in charges will help to offset the total cost.
