Economic Development Director

Salary Range: $40,000 - $60,000 Annually with full benefits

Job Summary:  This position will provide administrative support for economic development activities related to Catoosa County, inclusive of, but not limited to, the Economic Development Authority (EDA), by fielding requests and improving communications between all interested parties to provide a more cohesive, coordinated economic development effort.  To work with media, County Departments, Public Officials, and the citizens to provide public information via press releases, to the County website and/or social media.


  • Send meeting notices on behalf of Catoosa County Economic Development Authority.

  • Take minutes and organize meeting packets for the EDA.

  • Assist with development of the EDA budget.

  • Provide logistics support for EDA meetings.

  • Ensure proper registration for all development authorities as required by the State of Georgia.

  • Assist the EDA Attorney with bond issuance documents under the direction of the EDA board chair.

  • Answer all economic development requests coming into the County and ensure complete, thorough and timely follow-up to those interested in opportunities within the County.

  • Maintain and market a County database of developable tracts of land and available sites for economic development.

  • Coordinate communication efforts with local and regional media sources, the Chamber of Commerce, etc. to promote positive economic development activities.

  • Coordinate yearly planning sessions for the EDA & NWGJDA.

  • Attend City Council and County Commission meetings to stay abreast of each government’s goals related to growth and development.

  • Attend required meetings and training, which will include out of town travel.

  • Ensure that all community profiles, demographic reports, retail information is updated and available upon request.

  • Work with state and utility partners to ensure all economic development related data is on each site with correct contact information for interested parties.

  • Work with media on County related press releases, special articles and events.

  • Issue press releases and create County related marketing materials.



  • Candidates should have at least five years of management, executive and/or strategic leadership experience in the economic development, community development, real estate, marketing or similar field(s).

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s Degree in any related field.  Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.

  • Any combination of training, education and experience that meet the above requirements will be considered.



  • Must be able to obtain a thorough knowledge of Catoosa County’s ordinances.

  • Must be able to research techniques and methods of report presentation.

  • Must have thorough knowledge of personal computer software applications including desktop publishing, Microsoft Office, website development and social media applications, etc.

  • Must have the ability to create and maintain databases.

  • Must have a thorough knowledge on how to operate current technology and Economic Development tools.

  • Must be able to communicate appropriately with a diverse public in answering questions and explaining the County ordinances, development standards, etc.

  • Must manage projects with minimal direction and supervision.

  • Must be detail oriented and timely.

  • Must be able to prepare effective correspondence.

  • Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, co-workers, EDA Board and the public.

  • Must be able to prioritize tasks.

  • Must maintain a professional image, appearance and conduct.

  • Must be able to flex work schedule, on occasion.
