A Catoosa County resident since 1979, Jim joined the Ringgold – Catoosa County Fire Department in 1981, at the newly opened Fire Station No. 3 in Graysville. Jim was a volunteer on the department for 19 years and was promoted to Deputy Chief in 1996. In 2007 the name of the department was changed to Catoosa County Fire Department. Chief White has a total of 34.5 years serving the residents of Catoosa County.
As Deputy Chief, Jim is responsible for department operations such as fleet management, testing of apparatus and equipment including fire pumps, breathing apparatus, ladders, hoses, hydraulic rescue equipment, and fire hydrant management. In the absence of the Fire Chief, Deputy Chief White assumes the duties and authority of the Fire Chief. Chief White also responds to alarms and assists in suppression and operations and assumes command when necessary.
Chief White is a Georgia Certified First Class Firefighter, Incident Safety Officer, NPQ Fire Officer II, NPQ Fire Fighter II, NPQ Fire Apparatus Driver – Operator, Trench Rescue, Pipeline Emergency Responder, NIMS Certified, National Traffic Incident Management Certified Instructor, Medical First Responder, Haz-Mat Incident Command, and has many hours of continuing education and certifications from the Georgia Public Safety Training Facility.
Chief White is a member of the Tri-State Mutual Aid Association, Georgia Mutual Aid Group, Northwest Georgia Fire Chiefs Association, Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs and the Georgia Fire Fighters Association.
