Board of Assessors Appraiser 1/Appraiser Trainee
Pay to Commensurate with Experience - Full-Time with Benefits

 

Job Summary

This position assists the appraisal staff performing clerical and field data collection duties related to appraisal functions.  This work is performed under general supervision and is expected to carry out assignments independently and team support in the office and field.  The goal is to work and gain knowledge of the mass appraisal process to hold or obtain and Appraiser I Designation from the Georgia Department of Revenue.

 

Duties

  • Assists the appraisal staff in field and office with daily workflow.

  • Measures and verifies data of property improvements and new construction including tracking construction through completion.

  • Enters appraisal data and ownership records utilizing computer system and permanent records.

  • Assists the public counter and phone providing information.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Appraiser I:  As an Appraiser Trainee, you are expected to learn and do the more technical work in the appraisal of real and/or personal property for assessment purposes.

 

  • Be 21 years of age or older.

  • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Be in good physical and mental health.

  • Have the aptitude to learn to perform tasks, including reviewing maps and photography; locating property and gathering all information necessary to determine value; performing basic research on building costs and sales data; computing appraisal values for real and/or personal property.

  • Hold a valid Drivers License.

 

Knowledge and Skills

  • General knowledge of buildings and construction.

  • General knowledge of techniques used to determine fair market value.

  • Skill in maintaining accurate records, collecting and recording data.

  • Skill in using calculator, computer, copier, scanner, measuring tools and camera.

  • Skill in reading and interpreting tax maps, surveys and deed descriptions.
