Tax Commissioner's Update Page
Updated : 3/25/2020
Catoosa County Tax Commissioner's Office tax, title and tag updates.
Beginning Friday, March 20th will be closed to the public (no face-to-face
walk-in customers) until further notice. Staff will continue to handle telephone, mail and online tag renewals. ANY AND
ALL VEHICLE TITLE PROCESSING WILL BE HANDLED VIA DROP-OFF OR BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.
To schedule an appointment call 706-965-2571.
Due to the spread of COVID-19 and the closure of many of our offices to the public, Department of Revenue Commissioner David Curry has announced the following extensions for deadlines associated with motor vehicles:
Extend registration for vehicles with expiring license plate decals from March 16 through May 15.
Extend period no tag is required for vehicles sold between private parties from March 16 through May 15. This exception does not apply to purchases made from or through a motor vehicle broker or dealer.
Extend effectiveness of TOPs (temporary operating permits) from March 16 through May 15.
Waive IRP-IFTA requirements for trucks bringing relief supplies.
The DRIVES team is exploring all possible options to automatically waive late fees, but until this is in place, your county may use your holiday calendar to avoid charging the fees. For TOPs and casual sales, we recommend that the customer keep a copy of the Bill of Sale along with a copy of the bulletin to law enforcement in the vehicle.
The press release can be found here, and the bulletins attached are being provided to our law enforcement partners, so they will be aware of the extensions. We encourage you to share these notices with your local law enforcement as well.
I will provide more details and updates as they become available.
Thank you for your support.
